Kendra Emery is an enthusiastic performer and educator living in Cromwell, CT. She earned a BM in saxophone performance with a minor in French from the University of Arizona. Her MM and GPD in saxophone performance were earned at the University of Hartford. She has been teaching private lessons for over 10 years.
Kendra teaches private woodwind lessons at Middlesex Music Academy; saxophone, clarinet, and flute. She teaches privately and can be booked on Takelesson.com for at home lessons. She also teaches in the Glastonbury area at the historical society, feel free to email for more details. Kendra founded and leads an adult student chamber music group, The Just For Fun Ensemble. She arranges the groups music and leads from within playing the baritone sax, the group is always looking for new recruits who are just looking to have fun playing music and socializing once a week.
Kendra has students audition into regional bands every year at the middle and high school level. Her students often audition into, or are selected, for top ensembles at their schools as well. Although she teaches a strong emphasis on music fundamentals she also believes in music being fun and tries to find what sparks each individual student. Kendra believes that not everyone has to be a professional musician, people can just play for fun. She loves having students of all ages, both children and adults are welcome!
She recently took a break from CT and lived in Vegas for 2 years where was a part time faculty member at the College of Southern Nevada teaching History of Rock and Music Appreciation. While there she also taught private woodwind lessons at the Nevada Music Academy.
Kendra always appreciates new students being sent her way and is happy to reward referrals. Any student who sends someone to her who signs up and pays for a full month of lessons will receive one free lesson.
"Kendra is an outstanding teacher. Her patience, performance excellence, and individualized approach toward instruction made a huge difference in my child’s music education. "
"Kendra Emery really is the best instructor ever! Our daughter has taken both clarinet and saxophone lessons with Kendra and has benefitted greatly from her individualized approach as well as her technical excellence. By creating a positive environment, Kendra is able to make the learning process fun for students who are new to playing, as well as for advanced students."

"Kendra is a fabulous teacher. Both my children went to her one of which she taught the alto sax from Day 1. She cares about the children as students and personally. Taking an interest in who they are to make a well rounded experience for the children. She is the best."

"I had a great experience taking lessons with Kendra. As an older adult taking up the saxophone for the first time she showed extreme patience. She is extremely talented and takes the relationship with her students very seriously. She is willing to work with her students wherever they are and the goals they have. I recommend her very highly."
-Nancy S. (adult student)
"Kendra is an awesome instructor ... As an adult student new to the saxophone she not only taught me the fundamentals but also adjusted the lessons to the style of music I enjoy... My daughter took clarinet with Kendra and was just as happy... The other amazing thing was in a short period of time she brought me to the level where I could be a part of her adult saxophone chamber group... I would highly recommend Kendra whether you are new to the saxophone or clarinet or have been playing awhile and want to increase your level of play with the style of music you enjoy!"
-Karen L. (adult student and parent of student)
“I have seen first-hand the joy and discovery that Ms. Emery brings to students. She takes the time to find out how a student learns and custom tailors a lesson plan to both inspire and educate that student the best way possible.”
