Friday and Saturday we took part in The Movement Party! A global collaboration between dancers and musicians that's all improvised on the spot. We worked with dancers in Cairo, Virginia, Chicago, and NYC responding to their movements and they responded to our music. They posted videos on vine/twitter and we posted videos back responding to their movements. In some locations the images and music were projected as audiences watched dancers respond and create live. Below are a couple of the videos, click on the sound button in the top left hand corner to unmute.
The rest of the weekend was devoted to recording and rehearsing with Erik. We recorded a lot of material. I couldn't believe how many layers were on the screen at the same time. He had some beautiful ideas in mind (and on paper) which we tracked and we played around a lot with harmonies. It was a lot of fun to be a part of the creation process. Most of the genius you will hear came out of his vision but I was very happy to be allowed to chip in my own 2 cents and ideas. I can't wait to hear how it all comes together in the end. But here is a little teaser from what we did.
