Of the 3 sites like this one I have tried so far, this is my favorite. The drawback is that they pay you in gift cards instead of cash, but who can't find a good use for an amazon or target gift card? I have been using swagbucks for about a year and a half, in that time I have cashed out $565 worth of gift cards. I wasn't very active for the first 8 months or so, most of that has been in the last 10 months. So, about $50 a month, you could do a decent amount with that right?
Here's my referral code for anyone interested , if you're going to sign up, please do it through that, I believe we both get a kickback if you use it.
The good thing about Swagbucks is that there are a ton of activity options and linked apps that can make you more. I think most people will be able to find multiple activities that appeal to them, there is something for everyone. The thing that got me started was the surveys, I'm currently on a video kick.
Surveys pay out well, but you have to pay attention. Also, there are a couple survey providers that are scammy jerks and will take you all the way through a survey, then tell you that you aren't qualified and redirect you to another of their surveys. Normally when you are told you don't qualify you get 1 SB (swagbuck) for your time, which equals 1 cent. Better than nothing, and better than going in a circle for an hour and getting nothing. You will learn which these are quickly and start avoiding them. When you get a good one though it's worth it, you can get anywhere from 30 to 200 points. On average I would say I get about 70 points a survey and spend 5-10 minutes usually. So, it's not a great rate for a job, but you're doing it from home in your pj's while drinking wine and watching netflix.
The watch feature. This has been a source of both frustration and joy. There are multiple video playlist you can watch of 6, 12, and 20 videos which pay out 1, 2, and 3 SB. For a while there they wouldn't load on my computer and I think I had been locked out by the powers that be. When I emailed SB about it they just ignored me, which was very frustrating. You will see a lot of people complaining about that on their FB page. So, they don't have the best customer service.
But, there are at least 6 apps you can download to a phone or tablet that give you 2 SB per video stream (usually 6-9 videos) that are on a variety of topics, they have jokes, movie trailers, celeb info, recipes, the list goes on. You can also put them on silent and just let them run. You can get 10 points on each before it makes you watch more for the points or cuts you off. It also typically resets each app at 6PM PST. So you can easily get up to 120 SB a day just by doing that. If you don't get locked out on the computer though it never cuts you off or limits how many you watch a day, which is great compared to other sites that do have a cutoff.
There's also a shop function, if you buy online from one of their listed retailers in the given category you get a percentage back. They have most popular chains you can think of too. So, say you want to buy a plane ticket or rent a car on expedia, try going through their site. They do narrow the categories so it doesn't always give points for everything but if you get $20 back on a $200 car rental that isn't too shabby.
There's a discover page which I have not had much luck with yet but it's basically based on trials. You sign up for a trial on hulu or dollar shave club and they give you a decent amount of points back for it, you just have to remember to cancel your subscription at just the right time to not get charged again but to qualify for the points.
There are also bonuses, if you refer someone you get bonus points when they earn. It doesn't take away from the person earning, it just rewards you as well. There is a daily minimum goal, if you achieve it you get extra points the next month, you also get extra bonus points for making the second goal, and for making your goal 7 days in a row, 14 days, and so on. I typically earn an extra $5-7 a month on these bonuses.
Oh, they also have special codes that pop up every day which give you bonus points. You can subscribe to a site that will email you whenever they pop up or you can download the SB app to your phone and they'll notify you every time there is a code. Sometimes it's 2 points, sometimes they do several in a day worth more.
So, I can't pay my bills off of this site. But I can get a gift card to a chain restaurant or a big box store like walmart or target for groceries or clothing or something. So, it's a nice little reward when you don't have extra money to splurge but you need a treat, or you can grocery shop at a big box store if you are in big need and can't even think about treating yourself.
Once again, here is my referral code, use it.
